Michal Maciejewski  |  UX DESIGNER

Hi! I come from Poland and I'm UX designer with 3 years of experience. During my journey with freelancing and digital agencies I was helping small and big companies on growing their business online.

After 6 months of studying I started freelancing. During that period I created couple of websites for small businesses.

In the middle of 2017 year I had opportunity to do internship in one of the best Dutch digital agencies - Zicht. That period showed me how to work in bigger teams in order to achieve the best UX for big companies.

My main areas of interest is UX design and e-commerce. Moreover I'm really interested in animations and illustrations.

Besides that I love surfing, good food and music :)

Dutch Shop Redesign

Why?

This project was initiated by the Hague University of Applied Sciences for course called "Interaction Design 2". Its goal was to learn about website analysis and using it in order to redesign the website. As a designer I strongly believe that better design can increase conversions in webshop.

What?

For this project we went through whole design process, starting with research and analysis, ideation and design. Techniques we used in order to come up to final solution are:
• persona analysis
• expert review
• MoSCoW analysus
• Wireframes
• Flow chart

How?

Wireframes

When it comes to e-commerce websites, planning before designing website is extremely relevant. That's why in order to receive better results we created set of wireframes that helped us in creating better user flows.

Homepage
Product detail page

Style tile

To keep our design consistent among whole website we firstly created style tiles with most repeating elements like headings, paragraphs, input fields etc. Moreover we defined our color palette for this project. As you can see we used typical Dutch colors like light orange and blue. With fonts we went for the most popular fonts of year 2017.

Final design
Homepage

To give some general style for new website and to show basic design elements we started with homepage. First version of The Dutch Store didn't have page that looked like homepage. In our opinion short explanation and warm welcome was necessary.

Moreover, we redesigned the logo to fit in new design.

Products overview

In our opinion product overview page could be more visual and offer better filtering and sorting options.

One thing that was also really important was to add possibility to add product to cart without need to see its detail page. That's why underneath every product you can see input field with "add to cart" button.

Products detail page

Interesting thing about this page is that we didn't change any picture but simply worked on design. We added small scroll bar below product image to show similar products.

One thing we changed is the way of displaying detailed informations. We decided to use pop-up instead of another page, like in the first version of store.
